From 18 February 2027, covered EV batteries placed on the EU market or put into service under Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 are subject to Battery Passport requirements. ScopeThisCar is being structured now so public and authorized passport fields can become part of a normal vehicle check as access matures.

What ScopeThisCar is designed to check

  • Keep passport eligibility separate from vehicle age assumptions
  • Use only legally accessible public/authorized fields
  • Do not promise that every passport exposes individual SOH publicly
  • Connect passport data with warranty, battery and used-EV context
Questions

What to know

Will every EV on the road suddenly have a Battery Passport in 2027?

No. The obligation applies to covered batteries placed on the market or put into service under the regulation, not automatically to every existing EV.

Will the passport always show battery State of Health publicly?

Not necessarily. Access rights differ by data field and role.
